Black and White Flowers

Just black pens and card stock for this bouquet of flowers: foxglove, peony, ferns, and nasturtiums…some of my favorites!  I was in more of a doodling mood yesterday and wanted to use bold black lines.  I liked the idea of a black background and sort of ended up with a partial oval behind the flowers.

Then, I started another one with some more of my favorite flowers: hollyhocks and sweet peas.  But with this one I’m doing a square background ; )

Imperial Moth

I started working on an Imperial moth yesterday – the many hatch lines and stippling points are a medetatively repetitious exercise.  The lines and points have a textured look – like real moths wings have – all the tiny little scales that make up the designs on the wings!  It would be fun to do one of these illustrations with a real specimen to look at some day ; )

Society6 Pillow – Floral on Black

I ordered the pillow cover from Society6 that had my Floral Pattern on Black print!  I love it!  It has a hidden zipper – all you can see is the little pull – nice detail there.  The fabric is good quality/heavy duty – great for a house full of boys like mine!  The best part though, it matches the painting I have up on my wall (see in the background).

I did the painting with my living room rug in mind and picked colors I thought would go together – it’s so nice to be able to make my own pillow to match my rug!  You can order the same pillow cover HERE!  Made in the USA -a great product at the price – I’m so happy with my new pillow!!!

Myself – In Poster Form

I thought it would be fun to do a collage of all the things that I love: my family and church, my painting, gardening, and love of native wildflowers, my home in a little town in Maine…I love my life, my home, the work that I do here – raising a family, near to my family and friends!  I live a blessed, rich, lovely life!!!  These are the things that inspire me and bring me joy.

Mom’s Birthday Illustration

I painted this piano playing fox for my mom’s birthday last year.  She’s a wonderful piano player and a piano teacher – my boys take lessons ; )  She’s had it matted and framed nicely for her office at home.  It goes with the raccoon riding a motorcycle that I painted my dad for his birthday.

I finally uploaded it to my Society6 Shop!  So, it’s now available for prints, totes, mugs, etc.  HERE!

I painted a gardening scene for the Summer Days series.  Poppies, iris, tulips, etc.

It’s sort of a depiction of my own house…with a lot of artistic license!  Irises, tulips, forget-me-nots, and red poppies…I’m not sure that it’s finished.  I may need to add more flowers ; )
